Peragen® Systems, LLC was formed by four individuals with a combined 100+ years in peroxygen chemistry with the purpose of bringing Peragen's novel aqueous peracetic acid technology to the existing equilibrium peracetic acid (eq-PAA) consuming market place. Eventually we hope to vastly increase the market for PAA.
Peragen's technology (US patent 7,012,154, others pending) generates aq-PAA™, essentially peracetic acid and water due to achieving nearly 100% conversion of acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide to PAA. The eq-PAA product, which essentially is all that is available commercially, is based on conversions usually less than 50%. This vast difference in conversions leads to aq-PAA™ delivering the benefits of PAA at 2-5x lower costs, less raw material waste issues, less corrosion, etc, when compared to eq-PAA.
We believe aq-PAA™, because of this process improvement and consequential lower costs, higher purity, becomes an even better fit for the existing disinfection, chemical oxidation, and deodorization applications, plus opens up many new markets to this versatile chemical.
